Work Meetings

Depending on the number of people attending and of languages required, you may choose from the following types of interpretation:

Consecutive interpretation
Ideal for shorter meetings with few participants and a maximum of 2 languages, or for press conferences, visits, official dinners and other formal occasions. The speaker makes his or her presentation, followed by the interpreter´s faithful rendition into the other language.

Simultaneous interpretation
For meetings with more participants or more than 2 languages. The interpreters provide simultaneous interpretation of all proceedings from soundproof booths, fitted with sound equipment, from which they have a view of the meeting room.

Whispered interpretation ("chuchotage")
The interpreter sits just behind his or her audience (2 people at most) and whispers a simultaneous interpretation of the proceedings.

The size of the team depends on the number of languages spoken in the meeting room, on the number to which interpretation is provided, and on the duration of the meeting. AIB will put the teams of interpreters together in application of AIIC working conditions, which were developed in order to ensure the best quality interpretation.

AIB interpreters generally work from a number of "passive" languages into their mother tongue (their "A" language) and thus avoid the use of "relay," in which indirect interpretation is based on the version provided by another interpreter rather than on the original speaker (when the speaker's language is not understood in the target language booth). The use of direct interpretation, avoiding "relay," makes for a more faithful, more immediate service.
